How To Backup Firefox Bookmarks And Transfer To Anther Computer

Mozilla Firefox allows you to store Web pages you visit often as bookmarks. Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks and saves the last ten backups for safekeeping. Nevertheless, you can generate your own bookmark backup file manually and do anything you like with it.
Earlier today, I was able to save Firefox bookmarks on my laptop and restore the bookmarks on my new laptop. So, this makes it very easy for me to access the bookmarks on my old PC on the new PC. So, in this post, I've decided to share with you, how I was able to do that.

Steps to backing up and restoring Firefox bookmarks

  • Launch the Firefox browser on your PC.
  • Click the bookmarks icon
  • Scroll down and click "show all bookmarks" to open the library window.
  •   In the Library window, click the "Import and Backup" button
  • Click "Export Bookmarks to HTML..."
  •  Choose a location to save the file, which is named "bookmarks" by default. The desktop is usually a good spot, but any place that is easy to remember will work.
  •  ave the file and close the Library window.

How to transfer Firefox bookmarks to another Computer

You can use a bookmark backup file from one computer and restore it on another computer.
So, place the bookmark backup file created earlier on your transfer media (e.g. a Flash drive) and copy it to the desktop (or any location) of the other computer.

Next is to go to Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks  and click the "Import and Backup" button

Then, click "Import Bookmarks to HTML...."

After importing the backup file you created earlier, your bookmarks from that file will be restored. Close the Library window.

That's all.

NB:  Restoring bookmarks from a backup will overwrite your current set of bookmarks with the ones in the backup file.

If you use the "BackUp" option, it will create a JSON file which might not be detectable by the other PC. So, use the "Export bookmarks to html..." option as recommended in this post.

CcHUB is organizing an event tomorrow to celebrate recent milestones in tech industry

Co-creation Hub, Nigeria’s finest accelerator and incubator, is organizing a Tech BBQ to celebrate the recent (and future) achievements in Nigeria’s budding tech industry.
The guys at CcHUB didn’t specifically say what they’ll be celebrating but one thing is certain; Mark Zuckerberg’s sudden appearance in Lagos will be on the list.
For the uninitiated, US$54 billion that is Mark surprisingly springs up in Lagos two days ago and the first place he visited was the CcHUB. Now, that’s worth crying over (or popping champagne for).

For the future achievements, you’ll have to personally be at the event to find out. You can register HERE if you’re an entrepreneur, startup founder, developer, tech enthusiast or all of the above!
The event will take place on September 3, 2016 (tomorrow) at The Rooftop, Co-creation Hub, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos. A top British Minister will be in attendance!
Don’t miss this for anything. The Barbeque and drinks will be awesome!!!

Apple to unveil iPhone 7 on September 7 ?

That was the message Apple sent out inviting journalist for a press conference on Wednesday, 7th of September, 2016, an event will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
For the past three years, Apple has unveiled a new iPhone in early September. Everything indicates that Apple is going to follow the same pattern this year with a new iPhone.
Many leaks show that the iPhone 7 (or whatever Apple calls it) will feature more or less the same design as the iPhone 6s. The antenna lines at the back will be streamlined and the camera will be a bit more prominent. And yes, it looks like the audio port is going away, maybe Apple has found a way to make wireless headphones more functional.
For the bigger model, Apple could introduce a dual-lens camera system. Two cameras could let iPhone users shoot better photos in low-light conditions — it could also improve HDR performance and color fidelity. Or it would let you use an optical zoom with two different angles. We can’t say for certain yet, but it’s very likely.
Apple could also use this opportunity to unveil new MacBook Pro computers. There have been many rumors about an upcoming MacBook Pro with a Touch ID sensor and a curious OLED mini screen above the keyboard. The Apple Watch should also receive an update before the holidays. iOS 10 is also coming this September.
We can’t wait to see what new products Apple has in stock for us, will just have to wait and see.

Nigeria to experience annular eclipse on September 1

  Source : guardian.ng

• Phenomenon expected between 7:15 a.m. and 10:03 a.m.
• Astronomers prepare for 2017 solar eclipse spectacle

Nigeria is set to experience an annular solar eclipse that will be visible all over the country with different degrees of totality on September 1, 2016, even as astronomers in the United States (U.S.) prepare for a spectacle of solar eclipse on August 21, 2017.
An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when an astronomical object is temporarily obscured, either by passing into the shadow of another body or by having another body pass between it and the viewer.
The term eclipse is most often used to describe either a solar eclipse, when the Moon’s shadow crosses the Earth’s surface, or a lunar eclipse, when the Moon moves into the Earth’s shadow.
Annular solar eclipses have a “ring of fire” and occurs when the Moon moves in front of the Sun but does not cover the Sun’s discs completely.
The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), said yesterday that the highest degree of obscurity in Nigeria during this natural occurrence will be in the southern part of the country particularly in Lagos where it is expected to have 80 per cent obscurity while the lowest degree of obscurity will be about 45 per cent and this will be observed in the northern part of the country, particularly in Sokoto.
Head of Media and Corporate Communications of NASRDA, Dr. Felix Ale, in a statement said the annular eclipse would be observed as a partial or near total eclipse across the country with Abuja the Federal Capital Territory expected to be about 60 per cent.
“The annular eclipse is expected to occur between 7:15 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. with slight variations in actual timing across the country.
“In Lagos, the first contact will occur about 7:15 a.m. while the maximum eclipse will occur around 8:30 a.m. and will end by 10:03 a.m.
“The eclipse is expected to commence in Abuja around 7:17 a.m., with maximum eclipse to be recorded about 8:32 a.m. and the eclipse will end around 10:00 a.m.”
Ale also reminded Nigerians that eclipse is not a spiritual issue but a natural occurrence that can be accurately predicted by science, hence NASRDA has developed the capacity to accurately make this prediction as part of its mandate.
He said the Space Agency has also put in place a viewing centre at her headquarters in Abuja with the provision of proper eclipse viewing apparatus for school children to observe the annular eclipse as part of its continuous efforts to expose Nigerians, especially students to matters concerning astronomical environment.
NASRDA, however, warned that observing the solar eclipse with naked eyes could lead to permanent damage to the eyes, as the obstruction does not reduce the luminosity of the sun.
“An annular eclipse occurs when the sun and moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the moon is smaller than that of the sun. Hence the sun appears as a very bright ring or annulus surrounding the dark disk of the moon,” Ale said.
Also, millions of people in the U.S. will witness something spectacular on August 21, 2017, when a total eclipse of the sun sweeps across the country, the first to occur in the country since 1979 (and the first to go coast-to-coast since 1918).
According to a story published yesterday in ScienceNews, the roughly 120-kilometer-wide path of totality created by the moon’s shadow will travel through 12 states, from Oregon to South Carolina. And although it is still a year away, researchers and non-researchers alike are gearing up to make the most of this rare spectacle- they would not get another chance in the U.S. until 2024.
Eclipse enthusiasts are expected to travel to the US from all over the world to experience up to nearly three minutes of midday twilight and glimpse the seldom-seen solar corona, a halo of light from plasma that will frame the blacked-out sun.
Though some of the corona is visible all the time to a few telescopes in space, the region where the corona meets the surface is masked by the sun’s intensity. For researchers, the 2017 eclipse is another chance to connect what they see on the surface of the sun to what’s happening in the outer reaches of the corona.

How Your GLO data Subscription May be Your Blogs Problem.

I hosted a new wordpress website recently with a Nigerian host provider, i installed the lastest version of wordpress as at the time of my hosting, which should be around July, all this while i was using the Glo 2gig subscription which costs 1000 Naira. i noticed that on my new website anytime i try to upload an image, create a post or page or even install plugins to customize the website it was always showing an unknown "HTTP ERROR" and due to this i had to start checking if i had installed my wordpress installation correctly, i uninstalled and reinstalled wordpress and the problem persisted and i even began to consider leaving the wordpress framework which i have been using now for about 8 years. I called my host provider to complain and i even gave them my admin password and username for them to access the site and see what i am seeing, they did and they told me that there was nothing wrong with my site they even went ahead to post an image and create a page for in the site as evidence that the site was ok. so now i became the only one that is unable to use my website. but i noticed that on my mobile phone the site was working fine and had no issues so i began to suspect that the problem was coming from my network service provider and that was Glo, so i subscribed to my MTN sim for the same 1000 naira and tried using it for the website and i realized that the site just like my host service providers had said earlier the site was ok and the problem was coming from my subscription plan. I do not know any of you who is using the Glo plan successfully on your wordpress site but when i tried it on my site it did not work for me.
